Albert William Probert, 89, of Waterford, MI passed away on February 22, 2022. Al is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Loretta (Sayles) Probert; son Al (Rathna), daughter Dawn (Rick); grandchildren, Sarah (Brent), Jason, Lee (Jennifer), Sujaya (Pathiban) and Sandya (Eric); great grandchildren, Sophia, Evelyn, Arianna, Savita, Dhea, Jyothi, Nathan and Shaun; great grandpups, Walter, Bowie, Lulu, Colt, Izzie, Jack, Cookie and Dash; brother Milton (Debbie).
Al and Loretta took trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas plus a 6-week driving trip to Alaska with their camper. Many family vacations took place in the camper on the back of the truck.
Al enjoyed living on Elizabeth Lake for 55 years, cruising around on the pontoon, and clearing the ice for skating in the winter. He was a golfer and bowler for many years, played on a senior softball team until age 75, and every November 15th you would find him up north deer hunting. He knew all of his neighbors and was dear to all of them.
Al was an engineer at Pontiac Motors Tool and Die and retired at age 50. He was a knowledgeable handyman and construction guru. Al was an asset to his son when he built his three homes plus the garage for his daughter. He completed DIY jobs in his own home plus larger construction jobs in neighbors’ homes. Fixing cars was also part of his excellent repertoire.
When his daughter taught preschool special education Al enjoyed playing Santa. He would visit her classroom and the younger grades at the school. As Santa, he also visited the schools of his grandkids (where they got good “cred” because they knew Santa), kids in the neighborhood, and nursing homes.
Viewing will be at Sparks-Griffin in Pontiac from 1:00-5:00pm on Sunday, February 27, 2022. Funeral Service will also be held at Sparks-Griffin in Pontiac at 11:00am on Monday, February 28, 2022
