Allen C. Barnes

February 12, 1931 — July 18, 2014

Allen Charles Barnes; age 83; of Lake Orion, Michigan lost his battle with cancer on Friday, July 18, 2014. Al was born in Akron, Ohio and was class president of the Buchtel High School class of 1949. He served in the Army during the Korean War and graduated from Akron University. Al had a lifelong love of the outdoors and fishing, a successful career in computers and banking and served his community as a township trustee. His devotion to nature preservation was showcased by his work to designate Greenshield Road as a Natural Beauty Road. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jackie and his brother Robert. He is survived by his children, Julie, David and Skip, four grandchildren, his brother Bill Barnes, his sister Marian Zehnder and his companion Donna Bradow. The family will receive friends at SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Flint St., Lake Orion, MI on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Heart to Heart Hospice or Make a Wish Foundation of Michigan. Reflections may be shared with the family by visiting www.sparksgriffin.com.
