Andrew Deradder

Andrew DeRadder; of Lake Orion; age 89; passed peacefully on October 15, 2018. Andrew is survived by his beloved wife Jan DeRadder of 55 years; his dear children, Glen (Iris) and Bruce DeRadder; grandchildren, Jackie (John), Kayla, Rachel, Michael and George; and great grandchildren, Faith and John.

Andrew lived an extraordinary life serving in World War II as a young teen in his home country of the Netherlands.  His military career began after being drafted into the Dutch Air Force as a drill sergeant during the civil war between the Dutch and Indonesia in the late 1940’s.  Andrew came to the United States in the late 50’s to start a new chapter in his life.  He would later become an Astronomer for over 30 years, studying the sun for NASA during the Space Program.  His favorite quote was, “the good thing about science is that it is true whether or not you believe it.”  Andrew’s other passions in life was his family, flying and reading.
