Annette Lucille Gorney “Annie”, passed away quietly on May 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She is now reunited with her Lord and Savior. Annie was born on October 7, 1961 in Pontiac, Michigan as the daughter of Ervin and Carol Ashby. She attended Lake Orion High School, class of 1979. After high school she worked at various medical related jobs. She worked at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, various physician offices in Lake Orion, Pontiac and Lapeer. She was a fearless care giver to the people she cared for.
She lived a life marked by generosity, thoughtfulness and friendship. She loved her patients, she was a friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. She also had a deep love for animals and was devoted to her Maltese-Poodle “Alvin” whom she loved for sixteen years.
Annie was an avid Detroit Lions fan, even when they were not so good. She loved her church Leonard Community Church. She was caring for the seniors in her church; she bought clothes for them when they needed them, she fixed special food for them, according to their dietary requirements and covered most of their needs. She will be remembered for her warmth and kindness, and her impeccable sense of humor. She had a way of bringing SMILES to those around her and was deeply loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life in honor of Annie will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion with Reverend Dan Wells officiating. Family will receive friends from noon until the time of service. Burial will take place at a date to be announced at Eastlawn Cemetery in Lake Orion.
