Aubrey Sparks; age 96; of Pontiac, Michigan made his transition into glory on September 29, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 14, 1911 in Savannah, Tennessee which is also known as Sparks Bend. Aubrey leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Velma Sparks, of whom he was a faithful and loving husband for 74 glorious years; his daughters Marva Officer of Auburn Hills and Velda Norman of Pontiac; brother Grady M. Sparks of Toledo; sister in law Dorothy Sparks of Chicago; daughter in law Helen Sparks (Flagg) of Pontiac; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ina B. and Maxie C. Sparks; son Billy P. Sparks; brother of Odes H. Sparks, Talmadge Sparks, Floyd F. Sparks, Maxie J. Sparks, Vesty H. Sparks, and Gladys M. Sparks; granddaughter Sabra Officer and grandson Michael Sparks. Aubrey was retired from General Motors after 30 dedicated years. Aubrey will lie in state at the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A celebration of Aubrey's life begins on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Word of Life Christian Church, 79 Elizabeth Lake Road in Pontiac, with Homegoing service commencing immediately at 12:00 noon.
