Barbara Jean Gallaher

Barbara Jean Gallaher; of Oxford; age 99; passed away on February 8, 2026. Barbara is the beloved wife of the late Paul Gallaher and the daughter of the late Perry VanWagoner and Bessie Elizabeth Emeigh VanWagoner. She is the loving mother of the late Brent Gallaher, Shari (David) Hopp, Lori (Terry) Szklarski, Kent (Joyce) Gallaher, Tambi (Mark) Zaun, Von (Linda) Gallaher and Monty (Theresa) Gallaher; loving grandmother of Brooke Martin, Piper Hopp, Taylor Hopp, Jodi Elder, Jared Szklarski, Kendra Gallaher, Matthew Zaun, Benjamin Gallaher, Elijah Gallaher, Erin Gallaher and Megan Gallaher; and dear great grandmother of Parker Martin, Everett Martin, Paige Martin, Logan Emmett, Cody Emmett, Olivia Szklarski-Fortino, Evelyn Szklarski, Brooks Zaun, Larkin Zaun, Jack Gallaher and Vivian Gallaher. Barbara had a great love for family and loved the family gatherings. She had many, many dear friends, some of which were her “girls” she that enjoyed playing cards with on the weekends. Throughout her many years she was known to have kept every special occasion card ever given to her. Barbara was a huge Detroit Tigers fan, who also had a special place in her heart for her favorite singer Kenny Rogers. Her amazing memory impressed her family and friends till the end, and she will be dearly missed by her beloved staff at Independence where she had lived for over 20 years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 2 pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the time of service.
