Barbara Eloise Poole

March 2, 1924 — April 6, 2007

Barbara Eloise Poole survived her beloved husband, Frederick, by ten months. Born March 24, 1924 in Pontiac to Lyle and Leone Hoard, soon began dancing lessons, attended Pontiac High School, worked at Pontiac Motors manufacturing torpedoes during the war, graduated from Michigan State University. After marrying Fred in 1946, she taught school in Ypsilanti for two years until they returned to Pontiac and started a family. Active in all her children's PTA organizations, Tuesday Musicale Society, Canterbury and Wednesday Dance Clubs, Women's Farm and Garden Association, and a life member of Central United Methodist Church. She skied, skated, canoed, played golf, was an avid sports fan who cheered for the green and white in the midst of her blue and gold friends. Tiny, pretty, talented, bright, and loving, cherished by family and friends, a life-long student and lover of dance who was proud to demonstrate that at age 83 she could still do a perfect triple-time step. Survived by her daughters, Amy Poole, Elizabeth Martin (Roy), Mary Poole, and her treasured granddaughters, Amy and Margaret Martin. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Central United Methodist Church in Waterford.
