Barney Michael Hanes

Barney Michael Hanes, age 77, of Lake Orion passed away on December 9, 2025 surrounded by his family. Barney is the beloved husband of Mary Hanes; loving father of Peggy (Keith) Minton, Jennifer Taylor; loving grandfather of Alyssa, Katie, Kristen, and Kayla and great grandfather of Sophia. Barney is also survived by his sister Mary Rae. He was preceded in death by his parents Barney & Alice Hanes; brothers Bob Hanes, George Hanes and Jim Hanes.

Barney loved to ice fish and enjoyed listening to classic country music. He truly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Barney enjoyed simple things in life. He retired from GM in the early 2000’s.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion, MI. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
