Bernice E. Smith

July 2, 1911 — January 24, 2010

Bernice E. Smith; born July 23, 1911 in Jackson, Michigan; passed away January 24, 2010 in Hayward, California. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold; oldest daughter Bonnie Jean Sheffield and husband Vern Sheffield; son Earl Van Smith and wife, Edith Lorene Smith; and grandson, Phillip Vernon Sheffield. Bernice was a Pontiac resident and member of the First Open Bible Church. She is survived by daughters, Deborah Slater of Hayward, California and Diane O'Neill of Foley, Alabama; 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. A service to honor Bernice is planned on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Psalms at White Chapel Cemetery, 621 Long Lake Road, Troy. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in her memory to Harvestland Ministries, 5848 Clintonville Road, Clarkston. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home.
