Bernice Spaven

Spaven, Bernice Ruth (Cascaddan); age 100; went to be with the Lord Sunday September 23, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul who passed away in 2003, her brother Richard Cascaddan, and sister Nina Dernberger. Bea is the beloved mother of Roger (Pam) Spaven of Houghton Lake, and Robert (Valarie) Spaven of Lake Orion; loving grandmother of four; great-grandmother of nine; and is also survived by many loving family members Bea was born in Leonard, Michigan. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1930, and married Paul in 1934. For several years Bea played the piano for the First Baptist Church in Rochester and continued entertaining her friends and family into her late ninety's. Bea and Paul lived in Rochester until 1978 when they moved to Tampa, Florida. They were avid golfers into their late 80's A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 11:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Flowers, White Chapel Cemetery, 621 W. Long Lake Rd. in Troy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake Orion Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 585 East Flint St., Lake Orion, MI 48362.
