Betty L. Hollis

Betty Louise Hollis (Manwell), age 76, went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2024, in Royal Oak, MI.

She was born February 10, 1948, in Akron OH to James and Eva Manwell. Her father was a factory worker. Her mother Moved from England to Ohio to be a homemaker.

Betty graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1967. She attended college at Michigan Institute of Technology, and graduated with a Bachelor's of Applied Science from  Bakers College of Business,

She was an active member of The Oakland Church of Christ, a former member of Frankland Rd Church of Christ, and East Side Church of Christ. She enjoyed singing hymns and studying the word.

Her interests included Sewing, Cross stitching, reading, collecting frogs, and taking care of her grandchildren. She devoted much of her time and energy spending time with her grandchildren and making crafts for them including quilts, Christmas stockings, and keepsakes,

Mrs. Hollis is survived by her sisters, Carol Reher,  and Jane (Leo) Schumacker, children David (Lori) Shirley, James Shirley, Raymond (Kirsten) Powell, Lenora (Craig) Washington, Laura Hollis, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grand child, Dear friend Anne Seay, and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her foster parents Vernon and Pat Cole, her brother James Manwell, her sister  Pearl , her son Howard Shirley , her brother-in-law Richard Reher, and her dearest friend Evelyn Keller

Her memorial service will be held on June 8th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.  at Oakland Church of Christ,  23333 W 10 Mile Rd, Southfield, MI 48033
