Betty Lou Rodgers

October 24, 1947 — August 4, 2018

Betty Lou Rodgers (McClanahan) born October 24, 1947, in Charleston West Virginia went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2018, in Pontiac, Michigan at the age of 70. While growing up, Betty, learned the value of hard work and determination. One of her proudest moments was graduating from St. Albans High School and later in life attended school for accounting. She eventually moved to Michigan where she remained for the rest of her life. Betty would marry twice and have five children between the two marriages. Betty loved her sports and rooted for the teams of her two favorite states. She especially loved The Detroit Red Wings, The Detroit Vipers, Detroit Pistons and Michigan Wolverines. She enjoyed her Bull Riding and daily soap operas. Most of all, Betty loved the Lord and people. Betty was never one to shy away from offering hospitality to anyone in need. If there was food, she would give it, if there was something someone needed she would offer it even if it meant she had nothing for herself. Betty was selfless in her life and often tried to do what she could instead of having others do it for her. Some called it stubbornness, but it was her never quit attitude that gave her more years than the doctors would even think possible. She went through so much but always kept a smile on her face and thought of her family to keep her strong. Betty Lou Rodgers is preceded in death by her father, Harold McClanahan, father in law Donald Rodgers, brother, Harold, husband, Douglas Rodgers, brother-in-law, Les, and step-sister, Karen.  Betty leaves behind her mother, Betty Jane Ferrell, Step-father/Dad, Roy Ferrell, cousin/sister, Shirley McMillion, step-sisters Pam and Cindy, sister in laws Dorothy and Debra, sons, Harold (Lee), Robert and Douglas, daughters, Melanie and Michelle, son in law Michael and Jackie II, daughters in law Tammy and Annette, grandkids, Saphyre, Elise, Michael, Christian, Cody, Vanessa, Ashley, Curtis, Anthony, Jackie III, great-grandkids Lily, Kayden Pearl, De’mare Jr., and many more friends and family.
