Beverly Ann McKinney (Landstrom), 87, of Auburn Hills, entered the arms of the Lord Sunday morning, March 8, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Beverly battled Alzheimer’s/dementia for more than eight years and entered hospice care on February 24, resting comfortably until she was called home to be with Jesus.
Beverly was born August 28, 1938, in Iron River to late parents Lloyd and Grace Landstrom, the third of six children.
She married the love of her life, Charles Leslie McKinney, on October 12, 1956, just months after graduating from Lake Orion High School, and the couple celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this past October. Together, Beverly and Charles raised six children: David, Dawn, Michael, Margo, Sheryl, and Stephanie.
Beverly’s greatest joy in life was family, especially her 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her smile was never bigger than when she was spending time with her grandkids.
She loved to travel, cook, especially desserts, visit casinos, decorate the house for Christmas, shop on the QVC channel, and garden. The McKinney house won beautification awards from the city of Auburn Hills in 2009 and 2012.
For more than 40 years, Beverly worked for the Avondale School District, starting as a crossing guard and quickly moving into her role as a paraprofessional, providing guidance and that extra bit of help to literally thousands of students over the years. She retired in 2016.
Beverly will always be remembered for her never-ending love and admiration for her family, unique giggle, her seven-layer dip and cheesy potatoes, greeting family at the front door of their house, having strong faith, and being the person we all loved and called Pudd, Mom, Nana, Beeverly, and Beverly Ann.
This is not “goodbye,” but rather “see you later,” as we will all meet again.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles; children David (Christine) of Boise, Idaho, Dawn (Bruno) Frigo of Merritt Island, Fla., Michael (late Sheryl) of Buford, Ga., Margo (Robert) Slade of Goodrich, Sheryl (Joseph) Schoenemann of Goodrich, and Stephanie (Matthew) Mackinder of Goodrich; grandchildren Gary (Jennifer) Isaacson, Tiffany (Christopher) Grubbs, Chloe (Oscar) McCarthy-Carroll, Connor McKinney, Cassidy Slade, Chyna Slade, Chase Schoenemann, Mia McKinney, Carson McKinney, Chandler Schoenemann, Charleigh Schoenemann, Jamie McKinney, Ethan Mackinder, Wyatt Mackinder and Madelyn Mackinder; great-grandchildren Brayden Isaacson, Lilly Grubbs, Kenzie Isaacson, Rylan Isaacson, Carly Grubbs, Kallen Isaacson and Grayson Isaacson; and siblings Nola (late Lawrence) Elwell, Frederick (Betty) Landstrom, James (late Carol) Landstrom, Charles (Karen) Landstrom and Linda Chambers.
Special thanks to all the in-home caregivers who cared for Beverly in her final year.
