Bonnie Hagewood, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend,
passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, after a quick progression of
illness. Born on January 30, 1946, in Tecumseh, Michigan, Bonnie was the
beloved daughter of the late Raymond and Betty Kempf (Rhodes). She was
also predeceased by her sisters Judy Pilbeam and Joan Siefert, and her
devoted husband, David Hagewood.
Bonnie and David were married on July 10, 1971, and together they built a
beautiful life filled with love and adventure. Whether exploring the scenic
beauty of Petoskey and Mackinac Island or experiencing the magic of
Disney World, their 49 years of marriage were marked by shared joy and
deep companionship.
An alumna of Eastern Michigan University, Bonnie graduated with a
teaching degree and went on to shape young minds as an elementary
school teacher in Milford. Later, she devoted several years to being a
neighborhood babysitter and a dedicated stay-at-home mom. Eventually,
Bonnie's career path led her to the Oakland County courthouse, where
she worked until her retirement in 2011.
Bonnie's heart was as generous as her spirit was faithful. An active
member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh, she consistently
offered kindness and support to her church community. Her hobbies
included knitting prayer shawls, puzzles, reading, and caring for her
beloved cats. Bonnie's love for her family was unparalleled; she was known
for attending all sporting events and wholeheartedly supporting her
children and grandchildren in every facet of their lives.
She leaves behind her loving children, Jennifer (Peter) and Nicholas
(Michelle), as well as her treasured grandchildren, Noah (16), Olivia (14),
and Benjamin (8). Bonnie's legacy of love and generosity will continue to
inspire those who knew her.
A service to celebrate Bonnie's life will be held on September 2, 2026, at
12:00 PM at the Sparks Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion, Michigan with
visitation prior at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that
donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh,
Michigan or to the Michigan Humane Society.
Though she has departed from this world, Bonnie's warmth, kindness, and
unwavering dedication to her family will remain in the hearts of all who
were fortunate enough to know her.
