Carol Jean Schlicht, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, at the age of 79.
Carol was born on November 10th, 1946 in Dearborn, Michigan to Walter and Mary Gallinat. She called Lake Orion, Michigan home her whole life.
Carol was the loving mother to Jason (Tricia) Schlicht and Jeffree (Melissa) Schlicht; devoted grandmother to Eveyln and Oliver; and dear sister to Donald (Nancy) Gallinat, Rene (Steve) Kalso-Samet, and Chuck (Karen) Gallinat. Carol is preceded in death by her husband David Schlicht and brother Bradley Gallinat. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former students, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Carol dedicated more than 35 years to teaching elementary school children, a career she truly loved. She touched countless lives through her kindness, patience, and dedication to her students.
Her faith was an important part of her life. A member at the Lake Orion Methodist Church, she loved attending Sunday sermons, volunteering for Bible School, and helping with Monday night meals. She also frequently attended Bible Studies with a group of her friends.
Carol enjoyed casino bus trips with friends, playing cards, volunteering her time at school, diamond dots, making memories and sharing laughter with friends and family.
Above all, Carol cherished her family. Her grandchildren, Evelyn and Oliver, were truly the apple of her eye, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She loved traveling to Florida to watch them grow.
Her love, kindness, faith, and memory will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those attending either the visitation or service to please bring an elementary level book, which will later be donated in Carol’s honor to the Blanche Sims Elementary Reading Program.
A funeral will be held at Friday, September 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 5:00—8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
