Catalina Martinez

June 1, 1931 — March 14, 2010

Catalina Martinez "TANY"; of Pontiac, Michigan since 1951; was born June 18,1931 in Juana Dias, PuertoRico. She was the daughter ofthe late Jacinto Bernard and Josefina Pabon Garcia who preceded her in death. Tany, as she was so affectionatelycalled by family and friends, was married to Ivan Martinez for 55 loving years. God blessed her with four children, William (Minerva) Martinez, their three grandchildren Clarissa (Dave), Carmelita, William II; Magdalena M. Martinez, and her children Jocelin (Daniel) and Angel Colon; her daughter Haydeé Krepps (Tony), and her children Jessica, and Christopher (Mandy); and her youngest son Ivan Martinez, Jr.; Tany also had ten great grandchildren. Catalina was the sisterof Tita, Carmen, Juan, Hipolito, Isidoro and Emiliano, and the late Confesora and Matilde; she was loved by many nieces and nephews as well as many, many friends and family members. Catalina surrendered her life to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her early years. She was baptized in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She enjoyed having someone pray and read scripture to her from the Holy Bible. She would worship at the First Spanish-American Baptist Church and Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal in Pontiac. Catalina worked for GM for ten years and for a Senior Citizen Living Facility. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the First Spanish-American Baptist Church with Pastor Carlos Quinoñes officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home with an evening Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery.
