Cherie Kelley-Hunter

Kelley-Hunter, Cherie; age 66; of Oxford; passed away peacefully August 4, 2015. Beloved wife of Robert Hunter; loving mother of Kelley Frisby; stepmother of Deborah Olter and Brian Hunter; dear sister to Cynthia Francisco, Deborah (Bob) Jones, Bill Kelley, John Kelley and Rod Kelley. Cherie was loved by her many close friends and relatives, plus her "bonus" family, Leah Kinney; and her daughters, Ashley Sampeer and Alexis Kinney. Cherie was born in Pontiac, MI to Rex and Eloise Kelley (nee DeReamer). She graduated from Lake Orion High School and Oakland Community College. Cherie was Camp Counselor "Higgins" for many years in the Girl Scouts of America. Cherie devoted her life advocating for people with developmental and physical disabilities, by managing group homes (C.B. Residential) and being a teacher's aide for the Waterford School District. She was a former Special Olympic Coach with the Michigan Special Olympics. She was a past President of the Fraternal Order of Police, James R. Lafnear Metro-Pontiac Lodge 132. Very active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cherie was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Union Lake Eagles, Mother of the Year for the Clarkston Eagles, and a Bell Ringing Past State and Regional President. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00am at SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Flint Street, Lake Orion, MI 48362 (248-693-8336). The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Memorial Luncheon will follow Saturday's service at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Clarkston Lodge.
