BERGER, CLARE L. a Lake Orion resident for 74 years, passed away March 5, 2007 at the age of 88.Mr. Berger was born December 10, 1918, the only child of the late Mattie and Ralph Berger.Beloved husband of the late Beatrice B. Berger.Dear father of Thomas H and Penny Berger of Oxford, Mary Jane and Jerry Bates of Texas, and Susan and Thomas Arthur Jr. of Florida. Loving Grandfather of Tim and Heather Berger, Michael (Amber Baize) Berger, Thomas Arthur III, Mathew Arthur, David and Melinda Bates, Thomas and Susan Bates, Jonathon and Angie Bates. Great-Grandfather of Jacob, Grace, and Adisen Berger, Parker, Zoe, Reagan, Grayson, Baylee, and Brigg Bates. Brother-in-Law of Philenda Nelson. Mr. Berger was a veteran of the US Army in WWII. He retired from Detroit Edison in 1983. Mr. Berger was a member of the Lake Orion United Methodist Church, and he sang in the Prime Timers singing group for many years. Clare was an amazing Lake Orion Historian, with a great memory of places and events dating back to the early thirties. He enjoyed his annual fishing trips with his family to White Fish Falls, Canada, Big Band music, and the company of his family and friends. Clare will be missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. We will never forget his quick witted sense of humor.Funeral services, Friday 11:00 am., from the Lake Orion Chapel, Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home (248-693-8336). Interment Square Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:00 pm Thursday , with suggested visiting hours of 3 to 5, and 7 to 9 pm.
