Daniel (Dan) Grindle, age 40, of Clarkston, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 21st, 2024. Dan was born in Seoul, South Korea, on October 3rd, 1983, and grew up in Rockford, Illinois. He graduated from Rockford East High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Northern Illinois University.

Dan worked much of his career for the Department of Army, first at Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, IL, and then at Detroit Arsenal in Warren, MI. He moved to Michigan in 2011 where he lived the remainder of his life.

Although his later years were a struggle, we remember the brighter days, the laugh that could fill a room, his willingness to have tea parties with his children, and his passionate interest in his hobbies of the moment, often computers, video games, or Pokémon. Dan was also an avid guitar player and discovered a passion for long-boarding in his later years.

Dan is survived by his young children, Josephine, age 7, and Hannah, age 5; and his former wife, Alicia Grindle of Berkley, Michigan; his parents, James and Anne Grindle of Rockford, Illinois, and his brother, Gabriel (Danielle) Grindle of Rockford, Illinois, as well as extended family. A memorial service will be held at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Pontiac, Michigan, from 1-3 PM on August 3rd.  An additional memorial will be held in Rockford, Illinois, on August 16th at Olson Funeral Home from 3:00-4:30, with a service at 4:30. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the memorial fund for his daughters.
