David Richard Welch

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Welch, who left this world on December 2nd, 2024 at the age of 44. David was a beloved son, brother, uncle, dear friend, whose kindness, humor, and unwavering strength touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Born on April 11th, 1980 in Lapeer, Michigan, David lived a life full of love, adventure, and purpose. Whether he was making everyone laugh, remodeling homes, doing plumbing, painting, woodworking, or tinkering with his 3D printer. David's warmth and spirit is unforgettable.

He is survived by his loving mother Elaine Welch (Ken), beloved brothers, Amos (Mimi), Joel (Julie), Micah, and Zach (Tinka), dear sisters, Anna and Rachel (Kevin), sweet niece and nephews, Ryan, Mackenzie, Beau, Brody, and Owen.

David was an innovator. His life was a testament to "Vita brevis, ars longa" - Latin for, "Life is short, art is long". Everything David did was his art. His plumbing, home remodeling, mechanic work, drawings, paintings, and writing. Though his time with us was far too short, his art will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on December 8th, 2024 at Sparks Griffin Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with service at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). David was an innovator and wanted his legacy to inspire and empower future generations.

Rest easy, David. You will forever be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
