Wilson, Dean Andrew; of Sylvan Lake; died on March 30, 2008. He was born December 31, 1925 and was raised in Traverse City, the son of Ruth and Russell Wilson. After graduating from high school, he served in the Air Force from 1944 to 1945. Mr. Wilson earned his Bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and completed his graduate work in education at Michigan State University. He was a retired administrator, teacher, an d coach for the Pontiac School District, serving as Athletic Director and Director of Driver's Education and Safety. As track coach, he led Pontiac Central High to numerous state championships. His wife, Betty J. Beardsley Wilson, and his daughter, Martha Backalukas, have preceded him in death. He was the beloved father of Scott Wilson, Timothy Wilson, and Kristina Holmes, grandfather of Demetra Backalukas, Andrew Holmes, and Nathanael Holmes. He is survived by his sisters Joanne Morgan and Phyllis Hansen, and his brother, Eugene Wilson. Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks Griffin Funeral Home. The f amily will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment Roseland Park Cemetery. Reflections may be shared by visiting www.sparksgriffin.com.
