Deowen "De" Nichols Iii

Deowen “De” Nichols III; of Lake Orion; age 74; passed away February 14, 2017. De is survived by his loving wife Della Woods Nichols of 40 years; son Dean Nichols; sister Betty (the late John) Sargent; niece and nephew Elizabeth and James Kelly; and great niece and nephew Adelaide and Xavy.  De worked for GMC Truck & Bus as an Experimental Engine Builder.  If there was one thing to say about De, he loved racing.  He ran Top Fuel Dragsters, racing all over the country and was Crew Chief for Della Woods Racing.  De and Ted Spehar also ran dragsters together winning several races across the country.  Together they would go on to compete in one of the biggest races of the country known as the Florida Big Go South.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 4-6pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion.  At 6pm Scripture Prayers will be read along with a time of sharing by family and friends. Interment will be held on Tuesday at Eastlawn Cemetery at 2pm. The Nichols family will have a memorial dinner honoring De in a couple of months.
