Derrick Sharone Crudup was the last of 8 children born on April 22, 1973 to William Crudup and the late Lucille Royster Crudup in Newark New Jersey. On Wednesday, July 6th, 2022, Derrick became ill and was taken to McClaren Oakland Medical Center in Pontiac Michigan where he took his last breath. Upon leaving Newark, NJ, Derrick settled in Pontiac, Michigan where he met and built a life with his longtime companion Ida Sinclair. Together, he and Ida raised two young men, Deevon Brown, and Anthony Williams. He also met his best friend known as Cuda. Derrick loved working with his hands, he was employed with Beacon Hills Apartments in Auburn Hills Michigan as a maintenance technician. Derrick was a very spiritual and God-fearing man. He was a special kind of person, always keeping God first in his life. Derrick had an infectious smile that would light up a room, and a passionate voice that commanded attention. He loved to make people laugh even when they didn’t want too. He was a loving companion, disciplinary, brother, son, cousin, uncle, and friend. Derrick was an avid animal lover and a music enthusiast he loved all genres of music. He loved and learned a lot about the Jamaican culture and spent quite a bit of time in Jamacia with friends. He was a very giving person, always concerned about the welfare of others. Derrick identified himself as a Christian in his deep spiritual quest. Survivors include his longtime companion, Ida Sinclair and her two sons, Deevon Brown and Anthony Williams. His father, William Crudup, His brothers Wm. Dennis Royster, and Michael Crudup. His sisters, Glendora Crudup Dunn, Teresa Tennet, Lisa Colson, Deborah Rorex, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, Derrick was preceded in death by his mother Lucille Crudup and his sister Tracy Crudup.
