Detra Annette Davis

Detra Annette Davis was born February 24,1965 to loving parents, Mable & Jimmy Green Sr. Detra graduated from Pontiac Central High School. After graduation she went to pursue higher dreams graduating from Oakland Community College with a degree in Nursing. Detra modeled part-time before she begun working diligently as a nurse for 31 years. In the late 1980`s she became a baptized Jehovah`s Witness. In 1996, Detra married the man of her dreams, John Davis, whom she shared 27 years of marriage. Detra spent all of her days being devoted to her family. She often expressed the importance the family foundation. Detra enjoyed fishing although she wasn`t fond of baiting the hook or removing the fish, which she relied on her husband to do so. Detra loved creating centerpieces for special occasions and for relaxation. She enjoyed watching "Roots", The 10 Commandments, and The Godfather". Her favorite song was "Fight the Power" by the Isley Brothers. Bowling was an all-time favorite along with get to-gethers at the house. Detra experienced the greatest joy watching & teaching her youngest granddaughter London. Additionally, she enjoyed eating "Walkers & Listeners", talking on the phone, sending massive text messages, and encouraging her daughters & nieces. Detra was called Mama Dee by her Orchard Hills & MediLodge Nurses & CNA' s where she worked as a Nursing Manager. Detra leaves to cherish her memory her husband John Davis, daughters: Deaundra Carter, Shante & Johnetta Davis. Grandchildren: Jonbrielle, Lytyrionna, Braelynn & London. Godchildren: Melique & Nevaeha. Sister: Kathy Taylor. Loving pet: Rocky. Mother-in-law, Prince Parker and Sister-in-law: Gloria Parker. Special brother & sister: Doctors Gary & Carmon Weekes. Nieces: Deshun (Christopher),  Shalana, Dominique (Marc Sr.), Alissa, Candice, Kenyatta, Henrine, Kiara & Prince. Nephews: Michael, Flirtee` (Karla), Mitchell Jr., Grant(Jessica), Dominique, Jordan Jr. and Johnathan. Great nieces: Quaniqua (Warren), Kendyl,Alexis T, Alexis H, Flirtasia and Epiphany. Great nephews: Marc Jr, and Jayson. Great-great nephews: Jamarion, Myceo & Levi. Three aunts: Bessie Witherspoon, Louise King and Thelma Williams. Special cousins: Jeffrey, Marla, Ursula, Josephus, Bea and Larry. Dearest friends: Pamela Malone, Darlene Smith, Carolyn, Aunt Donna, Dorothy, Darlene Brooks and Pamela Mathews. Special group of friends from Orchard Hills & MediLodge Group, along with a host of family and friends. Detra was preceded in death by her unforgettable mother and father, Mable & Jimmy Green Sr., Brothers: Jimmy Green Jr.(Junebug),Sister: Mamie Harrison, Mitchell Green Sr.(Mitch), and Garry Green (Grapes), Jordan Davis Sr. Seven aunts: Marietta Davis, Edith Moses, Kate Martin, Geneva Williams, Arlene Pettis, Rebecca Woods and Imogene Fladger. Seven uncles: Edward Lee, Alfred & Albert Chandler, Jessie & Lesie Witherspoon and Samuel & L.C. Green.Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11a.m. at the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Pontiac.
