Dominic Mauro

Dominic P. Mauro “Nick”; of Lake Orion; passed away at his home on March 18, 2016 surrounded by his family.  Dominic was born on October 5, 1969 in Rochester, Michigan to Eddy and the late Nancy (Oles) Mauro.  Nick spent most of his childhood living in Lake Orion and would graduate from Lake Orion High School in 1987.  He worked in the Water Department for the City of Troy for many years.  Nick also ran a lawn cutting service and worked as a short order cook at the Nugget in Oxford for many years.  Dominic enjoyed hunting, fishing and all outdoor activities.  He was an avid trail walker and delighted in picking mushrooms and blueberries.  Spending time with his family and friends was a top priority for Nick.  He cherished the time he spent coaching his son Steven in Baseball, and together they climbed to the peak of Twin Sisters Mountain in Colorado in 2011.  Nick is survived by his wife Kimberly, to whom he married in April, 1997; sons Jacob and Steven; parents Eddy and Linda (Marlinga) Mauro of Metamora; brothers Tony (Cristin) Mauro of Lapeer and Edward (Tracey) Marlinga of Grand Blanc; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy; grandparents Lester and Myrtle Oles and Achille and Adele Mauro; grandmother Virginia Fitz; and mother in law Joan Hellner. Nick will always be remembered for his kind generous spirit and as an ambassador of Goodwill.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 11am at the Lake Orion United Methodist Church with Rev. John Ball officiating.  The family will receive friends at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion on Monday from 3 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Kim would be greatly appreciated.
