Donald C. Johnson; of Lake Orion; passed away February 14, 2021. Don was the beloved husband to Frances Johnson for 79 years, who preceded him in death October of 2020. He is the dear father of Gary (Genine) Johnson; grandfather of Donald (Joan), Scott, Susan and Todd (Marni); great grandfather of 16; and great-great grandfather of 17. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Johnson, Marge Coley and Marilyn Johnson. Don was born on June 26, 1920, the oldest of 4 children, to parents Leonard and Mary (Walters) Johnson. He served in the Navy during WWII on the Aircraft Carrier, Takanis Bay. From there he began a career with Michigan Bell (AT&T) before retiring after 35 years of service. Don was the patriarch of the family. He dearly loved his family and always enjoyed the family gatherings. Don also enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, going to Florida and being in the sun. For many years he looked forward to hunting pheasants in South Dakota. In the 60's Caseville and Oak Beach were favorite places to visit in the summer, and in the later years his visits to Tennessee to see his grandson and family, as well as playing some golf were always good times. Don enjoyed going out to eat and to pick up the bill, and he always looked forward to going to the American Legion on Friday's for the Fish Fry and to see some of his military and golfing buddy's. He thought it a privilege to help at the Fish Organization as a Life-Long resident of Lake Orion and longtime member of the Lake Orion United Methodist Church. Don was a beloved man to so many and he will be dearly missed by all. A visitation for Don and Fran will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 12-2pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion.
