Dora was born September 4th, 1930 and was ushered into heaven in the quiet hours of the morning on October 9th, 2022, from her apartment at Grace Senior Living, surrounded by her loving family.
Dora will be sadly missed, but today we treasure the memories and celebrate her life as an independent, strong, active, resourceful and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Dora was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Max Lee, whom she loved and cared for tirelessly.
Dora took pleasure investing in her children Judd Lee (Lisa), Judy Tompkins (Robert) and the late Richard Lee and Roger Lee (Patti). She prayed faithfully for her children, was instrumental in selecting their partners and took great pleasure in the close family bond they shared.
Dora was grandmother to 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Dora was “like a Mom” to countless friends of her four children and cooked for everyone who visited their home. Gifted in hospitality, crafts, crocheting and family fun, Dora built unique bonds with many who crossed her path. She was just aDORAble.
Mom’s unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father is the foundation on which she built her life. Even in her final days, she did not fear death and had great confidence that to be absent from the body is to be present with her Lord.
She will be remembered by her family as a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. To her community, she will be remembered as one of the most generous, involved and forward-thinking organizers of her time.
The family wants to thank the staff at Grace Senior Living for their adoring care of “Dora the Explorer”. She thrived during her 8 months at Grace. The family also wants to thank the Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care team for their kindness and professional care. MHP is an amazing team who worked seamlessly together to ensure the best level of care and comfort for Mom, for which we are grateful. The family also thanks each of you for your thoughtful prayers and support. Your kindness exemplifies the depth of friendship Mom built with each of you.
