Elizabeth May Burns

May 22, 1935 — May 29, 2024

Elizabeth May Burns; formerly of Dearborn and Grosse Ile; passed away May 29, 2024, at the age 89.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband Morley in 2018 after 62 years of marriage.  She is the loving mother of Morley (Edith) Burns Jr. and Susan Burns (Frits Hoendervanger); the loving grandmother of Marissa Burns (Scott Nestor), the late Morley (Samantha) Burns III, Jason (Mary) Hoendervanger and Jennifer (Matt) Reinsma; and the dear sister of the late Louise Adams and Bill Gessas. Betty is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

For many years Betty was very active in Christ Church Dearborn and St. James Episcopal Church in Grosse Ile.  She loved traveling around the country with her husband Morley in their motor home, as well as traveling to many places around the world.  Betty also enjoyed a good match of tennis, playing cards, especially Bridge, and spending time with her family and life long friends.

Memorial services will be held on June 22, 2024, at 12 noon at the All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Pontiac. Following the service the family invites everyone to a celebration of life in the church auditorium, where food and beverages will be provided.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 171 W. Pike Street, Pontiac 48341.
