Elizabeth Hunt was born November 26, 1925 to Buford and Pearl Wilson in Huntsville, Alabama. After a long illness, God in His infinite wisdom very quietly and peacefully closed her eyes on Thursday, April 16, 2009. After completing her education, she met and married Purvis Leon Hunt Sr. To this union four children were raised. Elizabeth accepted Christ at an early age and was a founding member of St. Stephen's Missionary Baptist Church. Later she united in fellowship with Newman A.M.E. Church and remained a member until the time of her death.Elizabeth was a trailblazer and a woman of great courage. Her strong ethics and convictions led her to become the president of several Parent Teacher Associations in the Pontiac School District as well as serving on numerous civic and church committees. Her sense of beauty and style were legendary. As a role model, she mentored many people from all walks of life. Her children's friends often came to visit with "Mama Liz" in order to get her words of wisdom and frankness about all things.Until she became ill, she loved to bowl and visit friends and family. Her greatest joy was her family and her greatest assets were giving of herself, loving unconditionally, and her willingness to serve the Lord by example of word and deed.
