Emanuel Moreno

Emanuel Moreno, of Waterford; age 89; passed away peacefully on November 8, 2009 surrounded by loving family. Born October 17, 1920 in Freeport, Illinois; son of Santiago and Juanita Martinez de Moreno; married for 63 years to the late Helen Moreno. Emanuel is survived by seven children, David ( Barbara) Moreno of Danville, CA, Carol Moreno of Waterford, Mary Ann Moreno (Douglas Bacon) of Beverly Hills, MI, Patricia Moreno of Yangon, Myanmar, Julia Longenecker of Ann Arbor, MI, James (Cynthia) Moreno of Chicago, IL, and Michael (Julie) Moreno of Dearborn, MI; 16 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Emanuel retired from General Motors Truck and Coach and also owned and operated Reliable Waterproofing. Emanuel was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Motor Machinist. He was a fast-as-lightning boxer for the Pontiac Golden Gloves Boxing Team, an avid fisherman, gardener, and an award winning artist. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment following at Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery.
