Erminia Esther “Minnie” Davis (72) ascended into the arms of her Savior, Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Minnie was born February 12, 1953, in Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Pontiac, Michigan. She was given the nickname “Minnie’ as a child. She loved doing crafts and making dolls for her family, and her nieces always enjoyed the company of their favorite ‘Aunt Minnie”.
An exceptional cook, Minnie enjoyed cooking for the family and spent many pleasurable hours teaching her recipes to family members—adults and children alike. She had a talent for cooking and would often share her meals and treats with family. Most of all she loved baking cookies and delighted in the smiles on the happy faces of her loved ones as they munched on her cookies.
Not only was she a great cook, but she also loved dancing and Tejano music. She would teach others her dance steps so well that they began to dance almost as well as her. She would sing and dance and write short stories that she would read to her younger brother and sister.
Minnie retired from the Pontiac School District in 2020, having served her community and countless students as a teacher aide for over 25 years at the Kennedy Center. She was an outstanding teacher aide and put her heart and soul into tenderly guiding and caring for the special needs children under her watchful eyes. She was also a caregiver at Havenwyck Hospital and Chamberlain House, and a member of Saint Michael's Church and Saint Benedict’s, where both her sons were altar boys.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, Epifanio Gomez, Sr., and Lupe (Casillas) Gomez, her son, Mario Davis, and her sister, Evanjelina “Eva” Anthes. Her nephew, Ramon “Monie” Trevino, Jr. (Melissa), passed away in 2021.
She is survived by her beloved son, Scott Jason Davis; her sister, Mary Trevino (Ramon); brother, Epifanio Gomez, Jr. (Betty); sister, Elida “Coqui”; brother, Edward Gomez; niece, Raquel T. Stephan (Terence); nephew, Cheeky Gomez; niece, Rosana Murdock; niece, Gloria E. E.; nephew, Emiliano Gomez (Mel); niece, Raina “Crystal” Anthes; niece, Gracie Gomez; nephew, Matthew Trevino.
Minnie was a strong-willed person who loved everyone very much and never gave up on her beliefs. She was a very special person, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
