Finley Greer Kennedy

May 2, 1911 — February 13, 2009

KENNEDY, FINLEY GREER. was born on May 23, 1911 in St. Mary's Ontario, Canada an died in Lake Orion, Michigan on February 13, 2009. He immigrated to the United States with his mother and two brothers when he was in his teens. He was employed at the Michigan Consolidated Gas Company (Now DTE) for 40 years until he retired in 1972. He married Harriet Clark in 1931. Harriet preceded him in death in 2003. He is survived by his children, Karen and John Oswalt and Linda Batchelor and Leo Batchelor, as well as five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Orion for 62 years, and served as a deacon for several terms. Fin and Harriet were a gregarious couple and made many friends over the years. When Harriet was stricken with neuropathy and became steadily more incapacitated over a twelve year period, Fin was her faithful care-giver, an outstanding example of self-denying love. In his declining years, he was cared for, faithfully by Sandy Reile, Joanne Gracik and Dr. Christine Rudolf, all of whom testify to his unfailing courtesy and thoughtfulness. Funeral service 11:00 AM, Monday, March 2, 2009 at the Lake Orion Chapel of the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home(248 693 8336). Family will receive friends Sunday, March 1, 2009 after 2pm, with suggested visiting hours of 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery.
