Frances L. Thayer

October 4, 1932 — April 2, 2011

Frances L. Thayer; of Oxford; passed away at home with her family on April 2, 2011 at the age of 78. Frances is the beloved wife of Claude, with whom she has spent 60 ½ years of marriage and 2 ½ years together as high school sweethearts. She is the loving mother of Claude Thayer Jr., Rose (Lynn) Siegers, Gail Ferguson, Diana (Greg) Fleming and Dawn (Gary) Dunfee; grandmother of 17; great grandmother of 41; great-great grandmother of four; and great-great grandmother of two little buns in the oven. She is also the sister of Helen Redding, Cara Reeder, the late Jeannette Francisco; and the half-sister of Harold, Kevin, and Suzanne. Frances enjoyed a passion of music with which she was able to share with others as piano and organ teacher. For a time in the late 1960's she owned the Musicland Music Store in Oxford. She would later become a licensed minister, and together Frances and Claude spent time in Kenya doing Missionary work. On July 5, 1974 under a shade tree and on a picnic table Frances and Claude began the New Life Church of God. Her ministry continued as the Pastor's wife until Claude's retirement in 1995. A new chapter began with the ministry at the Cass City Living Word Church of God and later with nursing home and senior ministry. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Church of God, Oxford, with Pastor Mark Cole officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday at the Lake Orion Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home with suggested visiting hours of 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday at church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
