Frederic D. Ward

August 25, 1936 — June 4, 2006

Fred, age 69, died peacefully on June 4, 2006 in New York Presbyterian Hospital.  He was born August 25, 1936 in Pontiac, Michigan to Frederic S.  and Josephine (Taliaferro) Ward. On July 21, 2018 he will be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontiac at 12:15 after a gathering at the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 AM on the 21 st

He spent early life with his parents and brother Dave in Pontiac at their grandparents on Huron Street. Following in his father’s footsteps, he attended Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills  He went on to  Middlebury College in Vermont (class of 1956) where he  meet Kaari Ilves (class of 1961) They were married in  Kingston, New York on November 30, 1963  and  moved to an apartment in New York city. Fred started a successful career in advertising as a media sales representative with Ted Bates Agency. Their daughter, Johanna, was born on July 16, 1973. Soon after they purchased land in South Kent, Connecticut. Fred helped to design the custom-built post and beam barn style home. He built the house into the hillside so we could enjoy the sunsets without any obstructions. He enjoyed country life. He became a barn-house seller and builder, a livery driver and a private chauffeur. Fred’s motto was “do a good deed each day.”

He is survived by his wife Kaari in New York, daughter Johanna in London and brother Dave in New Hampshire
