Garry Reynolds Sr.

February 6, 1944 — May 4, 2021

Garry Bruce Reynolds (1944-2021)

Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, coach, and umpire.

He preceded in death by his parents Sewell and Ida Reynolds and parents-in-law James and Nelly Allen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy (nee Allen), sister Genevieve Healy, children Garry B. Reynolds Jr. (Rana), Laurie (Gary Selensky), and Amy (Barry Schwerin).  He is also survived by his grandchildren Shelby King, Garry B. Reynolds III “Trey” (Katie), Katelyn Selensky, Kacie Schwerin, Alexis Selensky, Morgann Reynolds, Zach Justice and Stephen Selensky. He also left behind great-grandchildren Noah, Ayden, Ryan, Vincent,  Valencia, and Luna; and many nieces and nephews.

An Inductee in the Little League Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, Garry was known and loved by the many he coached and umpired for the 50+ years of service to the sports of baseball, softball, basketball, and football. He taught his son Garry Jr. and to grandson Trey all he knew about umpiring and they have both followed in his footsteps. Garry was Man-of-the-Year at Lake Orion United Methodist Church in 2012 and was a much loved usher and volunteer in any way he could help.  There was never a person who walked into his church that was a stranger for more than a second.  He made it his mission to welcome everyone with a kind handshake or a funny joke.   He was known by so many for his sense of humor and his trademark pipe!

He graduated with his future bride from Pontiac Northern in 1961. He then worked at Pontiac Motors for 40+years.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private family-only service will be held.  Contributions can be made to Lake Orion United Methodist Church .
