Geraldine Elizabeth “Gerrie” Iser; age 93; of Lapeer, Michigan; previously of Romney, West Virginia; passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, at Devonshire Senior Living in Lapeer, Michigan.
She was born in Walled Lake, Michigan the daughter of the late Howard and Hazel Parks. Gerrie was the wife of the late Leonard Blake “Pete” Iser. The beloved mother of Penny (Tom) Berger of Oxford, Michigan, Daniel (Sharon) Iser of Lapeer, Michigan and Keith (Pam) Iser of Cookeville, Tennessee; five grandsons, Tim (Heather) Berger, Michael (Amber) Berger, Ryan (Kayla) Iser, Jason (Kristen) Iser and the late Joshua Iser; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and will also be missed by her dearest cat “Rosie”.
Gerrie retired from A&P/Farmer Jacks after 25 years of service in Michigan, and moved to Romney, West Virginia, the birthplace of her husband in 1983. Then she spent 30 years as a volunteer at Helping Hands resale shop that benefitted crippled children. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Romney.
Gerrie loved to read and enjoyed bird watching, especially hummingbirds. She always had a beautiful flower garden that bloomed all year long. She enjoyed going for rides in the country, silver cars, antiques, garage sales, and “chocolate” but most of all cats and kittens.
Gerrie will be missed by many – but the precious memories will keep her in our hearts forever. A private memorial service was held in Michigan on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home.
Funeral Services were held on May 31, 2024, at McKee Funeral Home Chapel in Romney, West Virginia. Interment to be held at Ebenezer Cemetery.
