Hans "Jerry" Austermann

Hans Jerry Austermann “Pappy”; of Lake Orion; age 81; passed away peacefully on December 9, 2016 surrounded by his family. Hans “Pappy” was born in Monroe, Wisconsin in 1935. He is the adoring husband of the late Marsha for 50 years; loving father of Melissa (Jay) Berwick, Hans F. (Barbara) Austermann and Eric (Cindy) Austermann; special grandfather of Preston, Allison, Nicole, Michael, Madeleine, Noah, Lucas and Seth; and dear brother of John (Opal) Austermann and David (Linda) Austermann. Jerry is a veteran of the U.S. Army, a Lawrence Tech graduate and an Oakland County Road Commission retiree after 36 years as a Civil Engineer. Pappy was a caring, selfless and intuitive person by nature. He was always tuned in to those around him and put the needs of others first. Family, friends and co-workers alike could always call on him for his knowledge, a helping hand, or just to bend his ear. Jerry loved his family and was especially fond of his grandkids. He was also a great friend and co-worker and will be missed by many. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 11am at SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, Lake Orion.
