Helen Maxine Barnes

Helen M. Barnes; of Lake Orion; age 99; passed away on June 5, 2026. Helen in the beloved wife of the late Monte Barnes, to whom she wed on October 16, 1945; and the loving mother of Ross Monte Barnes, the late Kirk Norman Barnes and the late Scott Robert Barnes. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Gavette, Norma Mehmel, Charles Gavette, Ruth Wheaton and Alice Dietz. Helen retired from the Lake Orion Schools after many years and was always so proud to have taught at every elementary school in the district. She was a longtime member of the Lake Orion United Methodist Church, as well as being very involved with the local Girl Scouts, the United Methodist Women and her many Bridge clubs through the years. Memorial services will be held at the Lake Orion United Methodist Church at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 with Pastor Larry Wik officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.
