Herbert L. Thurber

Herbert L. Thurber; of Lake Orion and Vero Beach, Florida; age 81; October 12, 2015. Herb was preceded in death by his first wife Daphny and second wife Gloria. He is survived by his son Greg Thurber; daughter Lorann Hayes; grandchildren, Toni and Nathan; 2 great grandchildren; and his longtime Companion Katie Enns. He is also the brother of Jim Thompson, Alta Garlick, Dan Thompson, Richard Thompson and the late Robert Thompson, Don Thurber and Donna Engleman. Herb owned and operated Taylor Auto Paint and Equipment Co. in Pontiac for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Herb was a member of the Elks for 54 years, the Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion Post #108. He was also a published author and longtime member of Pine Lake Country Club. Funeral services will be Monday, October 19, 2015 at 12 noon at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11am until the time of service.
