Isabelle M. Allison of Pontiac; age 95; passed away October 3, 2007; beloved wife of the late Virgil Allison; loving mother of Lucille Apoian of California; Stanley (Linda) Allison of Arizona and the late Leslie Allison; dear sister of Zaven Melkonian of White Lake and Dodge (Jill) Melkonian of Florida; special grandmother of four and great-grandmother of two; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Isabelle was a survivor of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 committed by the Ottoman Turks against the Armenians. As a result Isabelle and her family immigrated to the United States in 1921, becoming a lifelong resident of Pontiac. She was an active member of Grace and Peace Community Church, formerly known as St. James United Methodist. She volunteered for over 30 years at North Oakland Medical Center and recently Isabelle was named Citizen of the Year by the City of Pontiac. Isabelle was also a member of the U.A.W. # 653 Retirees. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Grace and Peace Community Church, 541 W. Kennett Rd. Pontiac. The family will receive friends on Friday at the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment White Chapel Cemetery.
