James Joseph Gerometta

James Joseph Gerometta; of Lake Orion; age 81. Born son of Leno and Elizabeth Gerometta of Detroit. Husband to Margaret (Braid) and father of James R. Gerometta. Brother to Jack and Fred Gerometta and Judy Paul. Preceded in death by brothers Richard, Kenneth and Ted Gerometta.

Jim graduated from Cass Technical High School and Lawrence Technological University. He then worked as a design engineer for Ford Motor Company for 33 years. Jim raced a Fiat Abarth in road races. He loved his Italian heritage. He was a member of the Bayview Yacht Club where he raced his C & C 40 sailboat, winning back-to-back Port Huron to Mackinac races.

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret; son Jim and daughter-in-law Rachel; and grandsons Daniel, Charlie and Teddy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Bert, Chris and Michael Paul, Cindy Dreyfuss, Monica Dennis, Beth Pickard, Tony and Leno Gerometta, Jennifer Peacock, and Patrick and Christina Gerometta, as well as many beloved great nieces and nephews.

Jim was a good man who valued family, friends and good times. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lake Orion. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 3-7pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion. Jim will be laid to rest at Eastlawn Cemetery, Lake Orion.
