James Michael “Jimmy” Gouvellis; of Pontiac, Michigan; passed away March 15, 2021, following a battle with cancer. Jimmy was born in Pontiac. He graduated from Lasher High School and attended college at Oakland University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences. He was employed by and retired from General Motors in Pontiac.
Jimmy leaves behind a sister, Gail, and her husband and his friend, Jim Tarsinos of Houston, TX. He also has a sister, Connie (Bill) Kissner, of Englewood, FL. Jimmy was an uncle to Elias Tarsinos (Maggie) and grandnephew, Stayton James, also niece Katie and nephew Billy Kissner, Jr.
Jimmy was a great sports fan and he was a friend to many in Pontiac and metro Detroit. He also leaves behind his best friend, Bear the dog, for whom his friend, Mindy, found a forever home.
Visitation for Jimmy is Tuesday, March 30th, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Pontiac, Michigan. A brief prayer service will then be offered at 4:00 p.m. by Fr. James Honeycutt. Social distancing is strongly encouraged and masks are required.
Memorial donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bloomfield Hills or a charity of your choice. Jimmy is at peace and with the Lord. May his memory be eternal.
