James W. Hanson

James W. Hanson (Jim) passed away at his home in Lake Orion on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the age of 72. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Marie Hanson. Jim is survived by his loving wife Linda of 43 years. They were married on November 11, 1972.  He is also lovingly remembered by children, Jennifer (Mike Szyndler), James (Donna), Michael (Cora) and Melanie (Robert Hikade); grandchildren Zachary, Alyssa, Robert, Brendan, Emma and Lily; great-grandchild Braxton; and many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jim lived in Lake Orion, Michigan all his life, spent his summers at the family farm on Suttons Bay, Michigan and graduated from Lake Orion High School in 1962. He retired from General Motors after many years of service in Machine Repair. Jim loved food and especially growing fresh vegetables for his family and friends in his one acre garden. Most especially, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, camping, fishing or just relaxing at home. Visitation will be held at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, 111 East Flint Street, Lake Orion, Michigan on Thursday May 26 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Sparks-Griffin on May 27, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Charlie Martin officiating. Interment immediately following at Christian Memorial Cemetery, 521 East Hamlin Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
