Jim takes numerous memories with him and leaves as many with friends and family. During his lifetime, he has lived all over the United States and enjoyed many facets of life. Jim graduated from West Bloomfield High School and attended Oakland Community College. He began his work career with the Pontiac Motor Division in 1963, where he earned the skilled trades position and his Journeyman Millwright card in 1972. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, JB and Alice, and his sister, Ann (Ron). He was the father of Deborah (Neal) and Patrick (Kathleen). Dear family member to Linda (dcd), Deborah (Paul), Steven (Laurie), and David (Kim). He was a beloved uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather to many. Also, special companion to Mary, as well as past partners Ann (dcd), and Georgia (dcd).
Jim cherished the Masonic brotherhood and lifestyle. He was a member and Tiler of Masonic Lodge 46 where he spent decades of his life supporting activities that benefit children in the area. He was also a member of the Royal Arch. Jim visited several lodges when he had a chance, but his hometown lodge of Lake Orion was his favorite.
As a child, Jim had the opportunity to meet George Herbert Walker Busch (who became the 41 st President of the US) and George Walker Bush (who became the 43 rd President of the US). Jim’s father, JB, worked for the elder Bush in the oil fields of West Texas and Alberta. Jim had fond memories of #41 and recalled him as being respected by all who knew him. He told the family that #41 rolled up his sleeves and worked with his employees whenever he was needed. He also played childhood games with #43, who was 3 years younger. As an adult, we all saw Jim’s patriotism in his volunteer time with the Masons, his belief in voting, and his every-day Texas pride.
Jim spent many years riding motorcycles. In his earlier years, he rode in the local area, often taking his children on long rides. During retirement, he took day trips on his Honda Goldwing. He also loved picking at flea markets, enjoyed outings with friends and family, working on his home, and shooting sports. He will be missed by all who knew him.
