After a long illness, Jeffrey (Jeff) Dee Holler, 64, entered into eternal heaven on January 20, 2021. Jeffrey
was born on September 3, 1956, in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan. Jeff was preceded in death by his
parents Jack Dee and Joy Lorraine Holler. Jeff is survived by his loving son Johnathan Dee Holler, former
wife and life partner Velina Holler, and his dear sister Jami (Bob Fettig) Holler, California. Nephews and
nieces also survive him; Victor Vincent Vicinaiz II, Sara Isabel (Erik Anderson) Vicinaiz, Charles Vincent
Joiner, all of Texas, and Mesha Lee Holler Fettig of California. We are also mentioning John Bistoff II
because he was a dear friend, colleague, and confidant to Jeff.
Jeff was an Environmental Scientist/Engineer, a graduate of Brandon High School, Ortonville, MI, 1974,
received a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, 1980, East Lansing, MI, and a
Master's degree from North Texas State University, Denton, Texas, 1983. He was an accomplished
scientist with 17 peer-reviewed technical publications. Jeff was passionate about environmental issues,
primarily safe drinking water, and all people's safety and well-being. He believed in science and facts, and
that, at times, placed him at odds with colleagues, but that did not deter his mission to do the right
thing.
For the past 25 years, Jeff owned and operated J D Holler & Associates; Lake water management and
watershed management lake issues, where at times both his wife and son Johnathan would take it into
their own hands to help Jeff when Jeff needed it most. Jeff appreciated that both Velina and Johnathan
encouraged his job and his beliefs. He also owned and managed rental properties in Oakland county.
Jeff was a Michigan Lake and Stream Association member and past Vice President. He was also a
member and past officer of the North American Lake Society. (NALMS) He presented his studies and
publications at various State and National conventions.
Jeff enjoyed playing his guitar, hunting, fishing, golfing, attending concerts, cooking, and organic
gardening. His cowboy boots were one of his treasures, and he loved to show them off; he loved all
music genres, favorite musician, Guy Clark.
Thank you to the following; Vanessa Vicinaiz-Joiner, Shaun "Shauny," and family for their love and
support provided to Jeff. Special thanks to the Vicinaiz and Trevino family (Texas) for prayers and support.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
