Jerry "Jeri" A. Shupe

Jerry “Jeri” Allen Shupe; of Pontiac, Michigan; passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 from complications of pneumonia and COPD. She was 64 years old. Jeri was born September 16, 1954 to Ralph and Elaine (Miller) Shupe. She was raised in Taylor, Michigan where she graduated from Taylor High School, class of ’72. She furthered her education by completing Cosmetology School and in 1988 graduating from Dorsey Business School. Jeri worked for several years as a ballroom dance instructor in both Florida and Michigan. She also worked as a Licensed Cosmetologist and as Office Manager for several Law Offices. She was known to many as Grace Gotsome, her alter ego. Grace made countless appearances on stage to benefit AIDS Charities. Jeri transitioned from male to female in 2016.

Jeri is survived by her brothers Joey, Jimmy, Michael (Margaret) and Ralph; her sister Crystal; several nieces and nephews; her life partner Diane Morin; and her loving pets, Bruno, Bear, Babies, Bubbles and El-lie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Elaine. Jeri attacked life in a loving, free-spirited manner – always looking to bring laughter and good times to those she cared about. We will always hold dear in our hearts fond memories of our time with her. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 with visitation from 2-6pm and service starting at 5pm with Rev. John Ball officiating at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Pontiac.
