Jill D. Bastian

JILL D. BASTIAN; of Lake Orion; age 66; January 13, 2013, under the peaceful care of hospice, at home. Beloved wife of Douglas for 44 years; loving and much-loved mother of Heather M. (Clark) Pierce of Sacramento, CA; adoring auntie of Megan Barlow; and doting grandmother of Benny. Also survived by her brother, Joel (Fran) Barlow of Hillsborough, NJ, and sister-in-law Joyce Bastian Rapp of Surprise, AZ. Jill was an avid reader and knitter, and was active in her community for many years as a public servant, including: a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Lake Orion (LOUMC); one of the key initiators of safety paths in Orion Township; organizer of monthly used-book sales for the Friends of the Library in the early 90s; Orion Township Clerk 1996-2008. Memorial service to be held at a future date. Memorials may be directed to local or global causes for women, the needy or missions, or for peace and justice.
