Joan Ruth Sharpley

Joan Ruth Sharpley; age 67; passed away suddenly on April 9, 2026. She was born on July 10, 1958, in Royal Oak, Michigan and adopted by Ruth and Joseph Michael. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1977 and enjoyed regular meet-ups with her high school friends over the years.

Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She is lovingly survived by her three children: Stephanie (Mark) Jenkins, Joseph Dewey (Alex Carrion & Gary Reidenbaugh), and Michael Dewey, her sister Jill Michael and her brother Robert (Sue) Michael. She was a proud and adoring Nana to her three grandchildren: Claire & Carter Jenkins, and Caydence Dewey. Joan cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments.

Joan retired in late 2024 from Samsung, where she was a dedicated and faithful employee for many years. Prior to Samsung she spent many years at RECARO, where she built lasting friendships and was respected by colleagues for her kindness, work ethic and impeccable attendance. Joan was also a breast cancer survivor, demonstrating strength and resilience that inspired those around her.

In her free time, Joan enjoyed building puzzles, thrifting, and spending time with her beloved dog, Bruce. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in the company of those she loved. Joan also took a recent interest in searching for her birth family. She was grateful to have connected with several of them and was able to learn about her lineage. Joan cherished those newfound relationships and enjoyed making new connections.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Joseph Michael; her beloved dog, Maggie; and her very best friend, Jane Hallauer.

Joan will be remembered for her warm heart, her devotion to her family and friends, and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
