Joel "Tick Tock" Boyd Jr. was born the oldest child of Joel & Mildred (Frazier) Boyd. He successfully completed his course of study in the Pontiac Public School system and went on to acquire his Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Michigan State University. He accepted Christ at an early age and worked with the youth department in at the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.
Joel "Tick" was known as an Intellect and a World Traveler. He started his career as a Math Teacher in St. Johns, Michigan. He went on to work for the Oversees Education Association/Department of Defense and was stationed in Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Augsburg, Germany as an English Teacher. Upon returning to the United States, Joel worked at Lansing Community College, Michigan State University and Western Michigan University. Where he taught English as a Second Language.
Joel was an avid reader and loved the Arts, specifically Theatrical Performances and the Opera. He was also involved in causes related to justice, equality and culture. But more thank anything Tick loved family, he was an icon at Family Reunions - known as a family historian and patriarch. Joel knew a little but about everything and enjoyed playing along with the game show Jeopardy from his home.
He is preceded in death by Joel Boyd Sr. (father), Mildred Boyd (mother), Juanda Jackson (sister) and Charese Boyd (niece). Joel leaves to cherish his memory sister, Mary Boyd Hogan; nephews, Stacey Boyd and Clarence Hogan; niece, Tayna (Nate) Jenkins and a host of great nephews and nieces, cousins, relatives, loved ones and friends. A private family service has been held.
