John George Gibson

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Gibson on October 6, 2025, while enjoying one of his favorite past times - watching Monday Night Football. A proud member of Lake Orion’s Class of 1972, John was a life-long resident who touched many lives. Known for his dry wit, storytelling and unwavering independence, John made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a deep love of history, sports and the radio station, The Ticket. Those who knew him remember not only his legendary tales, but also the kindness and warmth he shared with those around him.

He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered!

John was the beloved son of Vivian Gibson and the late George Gibson Jr., beloved brother of the late Sue Hansen (Roger), Jan Harp (Rod), Allan Gibson (Amy) and Kris Morin. He was a fun uncle and friend to many!

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 1:00 at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion, Michigan. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oxford/Lake Orion FISH Food Pantry in Oxford, Michigan.
